FOR GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES WATCH THESE TRENDS

The Volatility index VIX indicates the general fear in the market by tracking the Puts and the Calls of options traders. The general trend of the VIX is when the fear of the market increases (ie..options traders buying puts) the stocks and TSP L, C, and S funds tend to follow inversely and decrease in value, as the fear decreases (IE...options traders are buying calls) the stocks tend to rise causing an increase in the TSP L, C, and S funds. The vix tends to lead the change by a day.

Watching the EURO verse the Dollar EUDUSD chart trends are an excellent way to determine the best time to invest your accounts in the I fund. As the difference between EURO  and the Dollar increases in value the I fund will try and follow. Gold and OIL will also influence the I fund as they increase in value the Dollar tends to decrease in value and the I fund generally increases. If any or all of these trend opposite one another the I fund will stagnate or decrease in value.

The Ten Year note generally trends inversely to the F fund, as the TNX decreases in value, the F fund tends to rise and as the TNX decreases the F fund tends to
increase in value.

The L-income, L2010, L2020, L2030, L2040 funds primarily track the C fund and trend in value similar to the C fund.  See All funds Chart for differences and
see TSP Govt site for breakdown of these funds.
